The journal stays on the hall table

A loot run is not a library checkout. The skill journal is how a death stays expensive instead of final.

JournalKept

I am writing this because I died in the field past the warehouses with three journals in the bag, mine and two that were “just in case we find their bodies.” We did not find the bodies. We found a new character in the laundromat, staring at an empty table, asking which of us could read. None of us could. The books were in a corpse I could not mark because I was the corpse.

The mod writes a portion of your skills into the item. I am not going to quote a percentage. The server config is the percentage, and it is enough that losing the item hurts worse than losing the boots. Transcribe at the base, after you read, after a show, before you go outside. Then put it back in the hall crate. Not the dryer. Not the van. The hall crate, which is the one SheetGhost already pointed at.

Caliber

I packed JournalKept’s book. I thought a backup in the field was clever. It was a single point of failure with extra walking. If you die on a shared run, the people still standing carry your journal home if they can see it. They do not read it. They do not “try the new character real quick” to test the mod. I tested the mod. The test was the problem.

If your journal is not in that crate, say so in chat before you leave the cell. A moved book with no sentence is a missing book.

MothOnTheRoof

Has Been Read stays useful if the finished skill books go back in the book crate, which is under the beds, not in the journal crate. I mixed them once. Gyde’s magazines are loot, not souls. Do not store a trait magazine under someone’s journal and call it organized. Knox will let you. The next person will not thank you.

ColdBoot

This matches the rules. A player corpse is not a piñata, and a journal is the least loot-like thing in the bag. If I find another field kit with three names on three books, the extra books come home and the conversation happens in the parking lot, not as a vote.
