Meteors, rifts, and doors

Most of the ways to ruin a Tekxit base on this server are mods doing what their changelogs promised. Learn the list before you learn the pretty blocks.

Meteors

Oh My, Meteors was added in 16.8.4. Rocks fall. Builds break. The changelog even brags about meteor cats. A hole in the barn is not evidence that a neighbor mined you. Look up, then look at the crater, then rebuild. Valuables you cannot replace belong in a chest that is not the only chest, preferably not all in the same room as the wheat. The barn thread is the local example, including what was worth saving and what was already flour.

Do not stand under the falling part to “see the model.” The model is solid.

Dimensional doors

Carry On is configured, in this exact version, to refuse picking up a dimensional door. The pickup crashes. Do not look for a workaround. Do not ask the host to turn the check off so you can move a door “just across the yard.” Place doors where you mean them to stay. If a pocket dimension is your storage, tell your party where the door is. A door hidden as a joke is a joke until someone logs out inside it.

The door thread covers both the crash and a rift that opened into a storage room. Read it before you link two places together.

Riftways

SeedLight Riftways can tie places together, including across worlds. A personal rift between your base and a mine is useful. A public rift into someone else’s storage is a burglary with extra frames. Ask the claim owner, in chat, before a portal arrives in their chunks. If you find a rift you do not know, do not walk a mob through it to see what happens.

Nether portals

NetherPortalSpread is configured on 16.8.4 to a longer reach and a slower spread: distance pushed out to 100 blocks, time to spread doubled. Slower is not off. Do not build a portal against a wall you do not own, and do not build your wall against a portal you found. Obsidian creep is a mod, not a griefer, until someone aims it.

Flight

Kibe’s angel ring works in multiplayer on the fork this pack is running. That took the pack author a long time, and it is not a gift of invisibility. Flight over a claim that is not yours, especially at chest height, reads as scouting. Land on the road. Walk in if you were invited. Cloud boots are also in the pack. They are a mobility toy with durability, not a second claim tool. The feather running out was a crash, once. It was fixed in a fork. Do not file that old crash as if it were new without saying your version.

Freezers

The pack script added notes for freezer use. Read the in-game note before you fill one. A full freezer is a promise about power and about chunk loading. An unpowered freezer is a compost bin you built on purpose.
